As a highly qualified educator, I have consistently demonstrated a commitment to differentiated instruction, ensuring that all students' unique learning styles and needs were met effectively. My classroom practices led to measurable student growth, as reflected in both formative and summative assessment data. In addition to classroom teaching, I have led professional development sessions for educators, focusing on best practices in literacy, cross-curricular instruction, and inclusive instructional strategies. My experience extends beyond the classroom as an Infant Toddler Family Specialist, where I supported families in fostering developmental milestones through early intervention. With a strong foundation in play therapy, I have utilized therapeutic approaches to support young children's social-emotional growth. As an education consultant for Global Ed, based in New Zealand, and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, I have contributed to curriculum development and teacher training initiatives that bridge global perspectives with local educational standards. This diverse background has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of educational systems, child development, and effective teaching methodologies.
My tenacity as an education consultant played a critical role in helping a local youth mental health agency achieve CARF accreditation for their Child & Adolescent Day Treatment program. I guided the organization through a comprehensive review and alignment process, ensuring their practices met the rigorous standards set by CARF. By collaborating closely with leadership, clinicians, educators, and support staff, I facilitated the development and implementation of best practices, policies, and procedures that promoted high-quality service delivery, compliance, and accountability. My experience extends deeply into effective business operations, including staff training, performance evaluation, and systems that support both employee engagement and consumer satisfaction. Through strategic planning and data-driven decision-making, I helped build a sustainable framework that not only met accreditation standards but also enhanced the overall functioning and impact of the agency. Additionally, I consulted with an agency on how to construct a Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) based on measured Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to serve as a guide for clients who strive to achieve passing results in times of expected and unexpected audits.
Above all, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and my most rewarding roles are being a wife and mother! Born and raised in Edenton, NC, I have a strong sense of community and rural connections. I enjoy reading, writing poetry and prose, binge watching worthy shows, re-watching cultural classics, and traveling!
I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education from Chowan University, Master's of Education from University of the People, and seeking my Doctorate of Education degree from South College.
